The “Where do I come from?” and “Chair” series are a combination of ambiguous biomorphic shapes and architectural forms that interact in peculiar environments that explore the themes of my heritage. I started becoming interested in blood cells, DNA, symbols and drawings from my Peruvian, and Asian cultural background. Was I predestined to be what I am?
By cannibalizing other works, I create pieces with environments that combine shapes, one on top of another, using the negative space to express a feeling that I can get lost in. In some of the works it was not a conscious decision of the content but a reflection of the internal dialogue I was having with the work as I was assembling them.
